Day 30 - OUCH - my eyes are bleeding

Ken Rockwell produces excellent camera guides and he has done one for the set up of my new camera - to be found here.

The shots here are taken with that set up and there are some interesting results - not quite what I'd expected but I see now how these choices can change the perspective on the photos I take.  For the technically minded I've increased saturation and added a red to the overall white balance but all in camera ie it is applied to every shot as a default.  I can take off these settings on the computer the decision for me is do I want to?

In a sense it feels to me that I've moved from dull North Nottinghamshire to coastal California: the colours enhanced not by lighting but by electronic wizardry.  The shot above seems to me to go over the top and tends toward the garish, but in the next three it looks far more of an asset.

In the next two shots the choice for me is less clear cut, the first is heavily coloured buy the low rays of a setting sun but I'm puzzled why the green tends to yellow under the increased saturation.

Finally this shot is beautiful and not without echoes to 18th Century oil paintings by Turner and Constable.  I like the option - but dare I use it!
