Day 7 - More Macro Photography

Having got to grips with the techicalities on Macro using an old lense and new camera with don't talk to each other - I was eager to see just how much detail I could resolve from a 16 MB tif file - new problems arose almost immediately.

1) the slightest wind causes movement at these magnified levels which require higher shutter speeds to combat. But it is very hard to turn the wind off! So some subjects were just inaccessible.....

2) the one's the were accessible had to be shot at higher speeds which meant less depth of field and so this happens...

3) then there's the distracting detail that you don't see 'cos its small. such as this blemished rose

4) And finally a distracting detail that wasn't there when you set the shot up but it appears whilst shooting...

I will return to macro photography this month - though not for a little while yet - and these lessons will be in my mind as I do. The propects are very inviting.
